Kate Hudson Admits She Could ‘Smell’ Matthew McConaughey ‘From A Mile Away’ While Filming ‘Fool’s Gold’
Kate Hudson has gotten very familiar with Matthew McConaughey's "natural" smell.
During an episode of 'Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,' the 'Almost Famous' star addressed the rumors surrounding the actor's body odor.
A fan submitted a question asking whether the old "urban legend" was true, that she forced McConaughey to wear deodorant while filming "Fool's Gold," to which she declined. "No. He doesn't wear deodorant," she replied.
"And by the way, I don't either," Hudson, 45, boldly stated. She also added that she could smell her former co-star "from a mile away" because the Hollywood duo were so close while filming.
McConaughey, 54, alleged that Hudson would "always" ask him to use the salt rock to manage his "natural" odors, and would bring it to set especially for him. He never took her up on the offer. However, Hudson understands the protest.
"We're au naturels," Hudson said with a smile.
He's known for blowing off antiperspirant as he told 'PEOPLE' he's done away with the product for over 20 years.
The Oscar Award winning actor landed the magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive' back in 2005, where he added that the women in his life — including his mother — had no complaints about his "natural" smell because it's uniquely his.
"He did not have an odor," Hudson revealed on 'The Jess Cagle Show.' "He smells like granola and good living. He has a sweet, sweet scent that is just him...and it's not musty or crazy."
'WellAndGood' listed the benefits to ditching deodorant altogether, citing those with sensitive skin can see the improvement of their microbiome, ridding "gunk" buildup, and the opportunity to get to know your natural scent.
