Whoopi Goldberg sparked criticism on social media after she called out Donald Trump's teen granddaughter Kai Trump's speech at the Republican National Convention.

During Thursday's episode of "The View," Goldberg made it clear that she wasn't moved by the 17-year-old talking about what Trump was like as a grandfather during her RNC speech.

The moderator suggested that it might be a ploy from the 2024 Republican presidential candidate's team to "humanize" him.

"I know his grandchild was up on the thing and they're trying to humanize [Trump] and change your idea about who this guy is," Goldberg said on the show. "Don't fall for that."

Goldberg's comment triggered backlash from Trump supporters and social media users who accused the "View" co-host of attacking a teenage girl.

"'The View' needs to be canceled. Whoopi Goldberg has hit a new low. Now she's going after a [17-year-old]?" one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter, alongside a clip of Goldberg. "[Don't] humanize him? He's a human."

"This is classless, she should be fired," tweeted ACT for America founder Brigitte Gabriel.

"Whoopi Goldberg mocked Trump's 17-year-old granddaughter's speech. She's going after a minor. Absolutely sick," another X user claimed.

But many others came to Goldberg's defense, saying she never "attacked" Kai.

"She did no such thing," one X user declared.

Another praised her, writing: "Whoopi telling it like it is."

A third commenter offered critics some advice: "As simple as this...quit watching!!!"

During her speech at the GOP convention Wednesday, Kai said that former President Trump was "just a normal grandpa."

The daughter of Donald Trump Jr. shared that her granddaughter would ask her about school, give her treats and bond with her over golf.

"A lot of people have put my grandpa through hell and he's still standing," Kai told the audience in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the viewers at home. "Grandpa, you are such an inspiration and I love you. The media makes my grandpa seem like a different person, but I know him for who he is."

"He's very caring and loving," she continued. "He truly wants the best for this country and he will fight every single day to make America great again."
