President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race has left social media guessing over who the new candidate will be and drawn attention to Donald Trump's age.

Shortly after Biden announced Sunday that he will not seek reelection, Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, and the hashtag "#TrumpIsTooOld" became trending topics on X, formerly Twitter.

Fans of the former first lady have been asking her to run for president for years, but the calls grew in recent weeks following Biden's dismal performance in his June 27 debate against Trump.

After Biden dropped out, some X users claimed that Obama was the most likely to beat Trump out of all the names floated as replacement.

"Michelle Obama will defeat Trump," one person suggested.

Another supporter tweeted: "We need you, Michelle!"

Obama, however, has never expressed interest in launching a White House bid. She backed Biden and Harris in March.

Meanwhile, Harris became a trending topic on X after Biden officially endorsed her to succeed him as presidential candidate, and the platform was flooded with memes of the vice president.

"BIDEN IS OUT! MOTHER KAMALA... IT'S YOUR TIME," one person wrote alongside a clip of Harris.

"Kamala in her office as we speak," a second user wrote, sharing a viral video of the vice president dancing alongside a group of students.

Another tweeted a montage of clips set to the tune of Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" and suggested: "Kamala should just run this on TV as a 30-second spot to confuse and/or terrify the boomers."

The hashtag "#TrumpIsTooOld" also gained traction on X Sunday as users pointed out that Biden's exit from the race has made Trump currently the oldest nominee in U.S. history at 78.

The 81-year-old president's age and mental fitness were at the center of calls for him to step aside in recent weeks.

Now, some are turning that argument toward Trump, who formally accepted the Republican nomination for president Thursday at the Republican National Convention.

"Donald Trump is 78 years old and in a state of profound cognitive decline. He should end his campaign immediately," Occupy Democrats tweeted.

Another wrote: "#TrumpIsTooOld and unfit. Let's not make the same mistake again America!"

Political commentator and podcast host Brian Tyler Cohen also took a jab at Trump's age by sharing a side-by-side image of him and Harris, who is 59 years old.

"Republicans wanted to talk about age?" Cohen wrote. "Let's talk about age."

Following Biden's announcement, Harris said Sunday that she intends to "earn and win" the Democratic presidential nomination.

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also came out in support of the vice president.

As of this writing, it is still unclear who will become the nominee, or how the Democratic Party will select an alternative.
