Montel Williams Warns Media To 'Think Twice' About Mentioning His Past Relationship With Kamala Harris Or 'Earn An Unpleasant Reaction'
Montel Williams is urging reporters to avoid probing him about his former relationship with Vice President Kamala Harris.
President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race and has endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.
After the groundbreaking announcement on Sunday, the media unearthed old photos and videos of Williams and Kamala Harris from their 2001 relationship.
In 2019, the former daytime TV host posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, in support of Kamala Harris's vice presidential candidacy, expressing his "great respect" for her.
"@KamalaHarris and I briefly dated about 20 years ago when we were both single. So what? I have great respect for Sen. Harris. I have to wonder if the same stories about her dating history would have been written if she were a male candidate?" Williams, 69, wrote.
Williams adopted a similar position regarding the newly surfaced footage of him and Harris at the Century Plaza Hotel in Century City, California, from May 2001.
"I've said what I'm going to say about the thing that keeps trending. My friends in the media should think twice about wasting time on a 20+ year old picture — you will find doing so will earn an unpleasant reaction," the Baltimore, Maryland, native said.
Williams, 59, is expected to support Kamala Harris for president. He has mentioned that he will vote for the candidate who has the best chance of defeating GOP nominee Donald Trump in the upcoming election on November 5.
He also showed his support for the Democratic presidential nominee by pointing out his retweet of an endorsement from Maryland Governor Wes Moore.
Kamala Harris is currently married to Doug Emhoff. They exchanged vows in 2014.
Montel Williams proposed to his wife Tara Fowler on July 12, 2006, and they were married in 2020.
