"Mama June: Family Crisis" Season 6 officially wrapped up last week, but this doesn't mean things ended well for the titular star of the reality series, June "Mama June" Shannon, as the installment closed with seemingly unresolved issues between her and her family, especially her husband, Justin Stroud, and youngest daughter, Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson. Despite this, can fans expect a season renewal anytime soon?

As of late, WE tv has yet to decide on the fate of the reality show, which went through several alterations through the years -- from the show title to the number of episodes ordered per season and the releasing cycles of episodes. The latest of which saw the series having a three-part release, with the first 10 episodes of the newest season airing between May 5, 2023, and July 14, 2023; another 10 releasing between Feb. 9, 2024, and April 12; and the final 6 episodes premiering between June 14 and July 19. Previous seasons either had a two-part release or a continuous airing without monthly breaks.

Amid the media company's silence on what could happen next to the Mama June starrer, fans are still reeling from the events in the season-ender, which aired last Friday. For one, Mama June only managed to put a band-aid solution over her problems. Also, her husband and daughters were still skeptical of her actions until the very end of the show.

In the season finale of "Mama June: Family Crisis," Mama June and her husband and daughters gathered together for a commemorative ceremony in Florida for the Shannon matriarch's late eldest daughter, Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell, who passed away last December due to complications from stage four adrenal carcinoma. During the supposedly somber occasion, things took a different turn when Mama June made the gathering about herself by announcing the renewal of her wedding vows to her husband, Stroud.

The announcement left a sour impression on her daughters Alana, Lauryn "Pumpkin" Efird and Jessica" Chubbs" Shannon, as well as Justin, who was taken aback by his wife's words. He evidently appeared displeased and confused by the sudden and tearful declaration of love by Mama June not only because of the awkward timing but also because their marriage was already on a rocky path, as per Collider.

"What the hell is this? It's embarrassing. I'm upset. I feel like I'm not being listened to. When I asked June, did she mean what she said in her vows, like I really meant that. You can't just stand up here and repeat it all over again and think that means something like, I want you to live it, not just say it," Stroud told cameras in a confessional after what Mama June pulled in an attempt to patch up their marital issues.

"I cannot believe that she thinks this is fixing to fix everything," Justin added. "All the times that she's had to listen to what I've been saying, like we need to communicate, we need to work together. When you have a vowel renewal, this is something that the husband and the wife knows, not just something the wife goes and plans."

In addition to blindsiding her husband over their renewal of vows, Mama June raised eyebrows this season for how she handled her issue with Alana. The Shannon matriarch owes her youngest daughter -- who starred in "Toddlers & Tiaras" at a young age and kick-started the entire family's reality TV fame -- roughly $35,000 for money not deposited into the child star's Coogan account, a bank account for child performers that remains inaccessible to them until they turn 18, as per USA Today.

In an earlier episode, Alana, who is currently studying nursing at Regis University in Colorado, told her sisters that she needed the money for her rent and school in the fall. However, she was a bit reluctant to bring it up to her mom's attention since the family was still dealing with the aftermath of Anna's demise. Nevertheless, Lauryn and Jessica backed her up, saying, "It's been plenty of time," and that she had the "right" to ask for her money back.

When asked about the paychecks Alana earned from "Dancing With the Stars: Juniors" and "The Masked Singer" after being accused of stealing money from her own daughter, Mama June told Entertainment Tonight's Rachel Smith in an interview that she used those to cover various living expenses for the family, so "it wasn't just mainly spent on me." She also clarified why the money was never deposited into Alana's Coogan account, saying, "That time was, like, honestly a dark place in my life." Mama June previously struggled with substance abuse, which even led to her 2019 arrest for drug possession.

Before the sixth season ended, Mama June agreed to pay Alana. But fans doubt if she could keep her word, with one writing on X: "June agreed to pay Alana back, I don't trust her at all so I'll wait until the check clears but this would be a great first step [heart and praying hands emojis] #MamaJune."
