News Anchor Huw Edwards, Who Announced Queen Elizabeth’s Death, Charged With Making Indecent Images Of Children
Former 'BBC' news anchor Huw Edwards has reportedly been charged with making indecent images of children, according to 'PEOPLE.'
Edwards, the same anchor to announce the passing of Queen Elizabeth live on air, was arrested in November 2023. He was charged in June with the alleged bombshell offense, with permission from the Crown Prosecution Service.
Per the media outlet, the charges are in reference to images shared on WhatsApp chat, allegedly taken between December 2020 and April 2022.
"Huw Edwards, 62, of Southwark, London has been charged with three counts of making indecent images of children following a Met Police investigation," a spokesperson from the police department confirmed per the media outlet.
Child abuse imagery runs in three categories, including A, B, and C. The first category includes penetrative sexual activity, or relations with animals or sadism. The second includes images that are non-penetrative or sexual. The last category includes indecent images which don't fall into categories A and B, but don't depict sexual activity.
Per the 'BBC,' the former anchor allegedly had six category A images on a phone, as well as 12 category B photos, and 19 category C pictures.

Edwards, 62, announced Queen Elizabeth's death on Sept. 8, 2022, and regularly hosted U.K. general elections coverage. He was even called upon to anchor coverage for King Charles' coronation in May 2023.
The father of five resigned in April after 40 years of service citing medical concerns, claiming his decision was made at the advice of doctors. In July, he was reportedly suspended following allegations that a "well-known presenter" paid around $45,500 to a young person for sexual pictures over several years, per 'The Sun.'
The 'BBC' declined to comment on Edwards charges. The former anchor is set to appear in court July 31.
