Eminem Ditches Slim Shady Persona In AI Interview: 'Life's Been Great Since You've Been Gone'
The real Slim Shady is sitting down.
Rapper Eminem made history with his iconic beats and aggressively catchy Slim Shady persona. Earlier this month, he released an album titled 'The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)'. The project is intended to be the final send-off for the well-known persona.
Through 'Complex,' the Detroit, Michigan, native talked to a younger version of himself — specifically Slim Shady, through Artifical Intelligence (AI).

Through the futuristic interview, the rapper pointed out that the persona did not come about from a healthy time in his life, and, from that basis, it did not inspire greater health moving forward.
"I invented you because my life was f****d up. My music was going nowhere and I was broke. You didn't fix anything. You actually made [it] worse. You're the reason I had to self-medicate. Because of you I almost lost my career, my family, my life."
The death of his alter-ego has been a topic for sometime. Eminem, real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III, posted an obituary to Slim Shady in the 'Detroit Free Press' in May.
He wrote, "A product of Detroit who began his career there as a rogue splinter in the flourishing underground rap scene of the mid to late 1990s, Shady first became a household name in 1999 with the debut of his playfully deranged single 'My Name Is,' which - along with its uniquely eye catching video - exposed the young artist and his lyrics to a wider audience."
"Ultimately, the very things that seemed to be the tools he used became calling cards that defined an existence that could only come to a sudden and horrific end. His complex and tortured existence has come to a close, and the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to resolution than the manner in which this character departed this world. May he truly find the peace in an afterlife that he could not find on Earth," the obit read.

As he moves on from this former life, he has noticed how much better things are without Slim Shady calling the shots.
"Life's been great since you've been gone," he said.
