Simone Biles Wins 2nd Olympic Gold Medal — Here's Everything To Know About The Most Decorated Gymnast In History
Simone Biles won yet another gold medal in the women's all-around gymnastics competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Biles cemented her legacy as the third woman in history to earn multiple gold in the all-around, in addition to being the first to win all-around titles eight years apart — a testament to her athleticism.
Here's what you should know about Simone Biles, who Team USA called, "THE GOAT."
The 27-year-old hasn't lost an all-around competition in a decade. Although the legendary Olympic athlete faced some mistakes on the uneven bars per 'USA Today,' it paled in comparison to her jaw-dropping balance beam routine before a stellar floor performance sealed the deal.
Biles has won 2 Olympic gold medals and 30 World championship medals, earning her a record number of World gold medals (23) in addition to a record number of World all-around titles (6) in the women's competition.
The gymnast has admitted many times that she's largely in "competition with herself" as the Paris Games served as somewhat of a "redemption tour" following a shocking outcome at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. The Columbus, Ohio, native withdrew due to what the gymnast call "the twisties."

The "twisties" is described as a dangerous phenomenon gymnasts experience when they lose their perception of their body mid-air — resulting in a lack of mind and body connection.
Biles detailed her 2-year hiatus in Netflix's 'Simone Biles Rising,' explaining her slow return to the gym by starting with smaller elements, taking a break, training elements, and resting again.
A winner yet again, Biles is considered one of the greatest gymnasts of all time, the most decorated gymnast in history, and one who has "carved her path with unparalleled brilliance and individuality," per the 'Olympics' official website.
"I'm not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps. I'm the first Simone Biles," the GOAT told the Olympic hub.
Biles is a six-time World all-around champion, six-time World floor exercise champion, and was a member of the gold medal-winning American teams at the 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, and 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
President Joe Biden awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2022. The next year, she won her eighth U.S. Gymnastics title, breaking Alfred Jochim's 90-year-old U.S. Gymnastics title record. She also won the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year in 2017, 2019, and 2020, and Comeback of the Year in 2024.
She is married to Jonathan Owens. The Chicago Bears' safety and Biles tied the knot on April 22, 2023, after meeting on dating app Raya in March 2020.
