Simone Biles' Husband Blasted For 'Unsettling' Photo Celebrating Her 2024 Olympic Gold Medal Win
Simone Biles' husband Jonathan Owens is getting roasted again after he wore the Olympian's gold medal following the U.S. women's gymnastics team's win at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old NFL player took to Instagram Wednesday to share photos of him and Biles celebrating her win at a party held the night before.
Both photos showed Owens proudly wearing his wife's gold medal around his neck and holding it up.
"Witnessing history every time you step on the mat [heart-eyes and fire emojis]," the Chicago Bears safety captioned the images.
Owens continued, "Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful [I] was there to see it."
Biles -- who secured her second Olympic gold at the Paris Games in the all-around Thursday -- expressed her love for her husband in the comments section of his post.
"My whole heart. [I] love you," she wrote in one comment, while another read, "[It] means the world you're here."
However, some fans and social media users were not happy with Owens posing with Biles' gold medal and immediately called him out.
"Why are you wearing the medal in your [appreciation] post about her???!!!" one person commented on Owens' post.
"There's something very unsettling about you wearing her medal. Seems off. Give it back to her immediately," another wrote.
A third user claimed, "I knew he was [going to] wear her medal like he won it."
"That's Simone's gold medal you're holding, not yours my guy," another comment read, while a different user asked, "God he just keeps making it worse for himself."
Some also brought up Owens' viral comments that he didn't know who Biles was when she first approached him in 2020 and that he considered himself "the catch" in his marriage to the now-nine-time Olympic medalist.
"Now you know who [she is], right?" one Instagram user joked, receiving over 10,000 likes.
Another commented, "I bet he knows who she is now!! Tuh! It's still the audacity for me. She's the catch! She caught all the GOLD!!"
But other users left more positive messages, pointing out that Biles appears very happy in her marriage with Owens -- who had requested time off from his team's ongoing training camp for the 2024-2025 NFL season to support his wife in person in Paris.
"Everyone luvs a supportive KING," rapper Flavor Flav commented.
"I'm so glad you were able to see your wife make Olympic history!!" another person wrote.
"Y'all sound so bitter on here talking about 'it's not his'....They are a team!" a third user pointed out.
Another claimed, "So many people caring about someone else's (VERY OBVIOUSLY) happy marriage instead of [worrying] about themselves, you guys are all miserable."
