James Corden has been accused of being a social climber who uses his friendships with people in the entertainment industry to connect with A-listers.

Over the years, Corden has formed friendships with Harry Styles, David Beckham, Adele, Tom Cruise, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and was able to invite the likes of Tom Hanks, Michelle Obama and Sir Paul McCartney to "The Late Late Show."

However, the Daily Mail's Katie Hind reported that some of the actor and TV host's famous connections stemmed from him using his friendship with less popular stars, whom he would then ditch after moving up the social ladder.

A "former colleague" of Corden's who spoke to Hind claimed that Corden was similar to Markle, who has been accused of cutting ties with her old friends after marrying Prince Harry and becoming a member of the royal family.

"It's like a ladder James is climbing, he goes up and each time he does it's to befriend someone more famous. As he does so, those less famous fall away, it's all very 'Meghan,'" the unnamed insider claimed.

The source went on to explain the method Corden allegedly uses to become close to other stars.

"Someone is the flavor of the month and they get love-bombed, get invited here, there and everywhere, and then when he meets someone else, they are no longer of interest. He's like a limpet," the insider claimed.

Earlier this week, singer Lily Allen took a dig at Corden on her podcast, calling him a "beg friend" -- described by the Daily Mail as "a person who 'begs' for your attention in the hope of forming a friendship."

Allen made the claim while recalling their first meeting on her talk show in 2008.

She claimed that Corden was "very flirtatious" to her on the show, and she later hung out with him as friends and introduced him to her other pals.

However, Allen said Corden later suggested in his 2011 memoir that she was "leading him on" during that time -- something the singer firmly denied.

"I think in his mind, maybe it went on a bit longer," Allen said on her "Miss Me?" podcast. "But yeah, I'd say if I ever had a famous beggy friend, it was James Corden back in the day."

Jeremy Edwards, who co-starred with Corden in "Hollyoaks," also alleged to the Daily Mail editor that the then-teenage Corden was "super keen" to be his friend on set.

However, he claimed that Corden "immediately ditched" him after Edwards introduced him to his more famous friend, former "X Factor" host Dermot O'Leary.

Corden has not publicly addressed the report and Allen's comments.
