Doug Emhoff Cheating Scandal: Kamala Harris' Husband Admits Affair With Kids' Nanny During First Marriage
Kamala Harris' husband Doug Emhoff has admitted to cheating on his first wife.
On Saturday, the vice president and presidential candidate's husband released a statement addressing a report that he had an affair with his daughter's nanny when he was still married to his first wife, Kerstin.
"During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through some tough times on account of my actions," Emhoff exclusively told CNN.
"I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side," he added.
Emhoff's ex-wife Kerstin also addressed the claims, saying in a statement to the news outlet that they ended their marriage "for a variety of reasons, many years ago."
She went on to praise Emhoff as a "great friend" to her and a "great father" to their two children, Ella and Cole.
"I am really proud of the warm and supportive blended family Doug, Kamala, and I have built together," Kerstin concluded.
Emhoff's affair first surfaced after the Daily Mail reported that the second gentleman and his first wife divorced because he allegedly had a secret relationship with his daughter's nanny and got her pregnant.
Emhoff and Kerstin were married from 1992 to 2008. He remarried to Harris in 2014.
The Daily Mail identified the nanny as Najen Naylor, 47, and said she also taught at the elite private school attended by Emhoff and Kerstin's children.
When asked for comment on her alleged past relationship with Emhoff, Naylor did not directly respond to the claims.
"I'm kind of freaked out right now," she told the British tabloid.
The outlet claimed to have spoken to a "close friend" of Naylor's who had "direct knowledge of the affair and pregnancy."
The friend, who was not named, confirmed that Naylor indeed got pregnant during her affair with Emhoff but said that she "did not keep the child."
However, the publication claimed that a baby girl named Brook appeared on Naylor's social media in 2009, the year her alleged child with Emhoff would have been born.
Enstarz could not independently verify this information.
The Daily Mail approached a second friend named Stacey Brooks for comment, and she "also did not deny any of the claims," though she refused to speak further on them.
Emhoff's cheating scandal has allegedly rocked his wife's presidential campaign, which has been on an upward momentum since Harris launched her White House bid.
According to CNN, the Harris campaign declined to comment on the matter.
