Nelly Arrested In St. Louis Hometown For Possession Of Ecstasy And Outstanding Traffic Summons
Nelly has reportedly been arrested in his St. Louis hometown Wednesday, per police reports.
The 49-year-old was apprenhended for possession of four ecstasy pills, outstanding traffic summons, and driving without insurance.
The rapper, born Cornell Hayes II, was stopped at 4:45a.m. before being transported to the Maryland Heights Police Department. According to 'KRCG-TV,' he was later released.
The former St. Lunatics emcee was near the Hollywood Casino at the time he was arrested by Missouri State Highway Patrol on a failure to appear warrant stemming back to 2018.
Maryland Heights reportedly confirmed that the "Hot In Herre" rapper had outstanding traffic summons dating back to August 7. Social media reacted, asking why men "always get in trouble" when they're about to have a baby.
"Why do men always mess up before they have a baby or soon as they have one?" one Instagram user penned in the comments. "Not Nelly asking where the party is at [laughing emojis]. It's in your car," a second joked. "Nelly done got his woman back and thinks it's 2003 again," a third poked.
Fans were referring to his recently rekindled relationship with Ashanti, as the two began dating back in 2003 before breaking it off almost a decade later.
The duo revealed they were back together romantically in September 2023 before announcing their engagement and pregnancy in April. The reunited lovers secretly married in December.
Ashanti, 43, is expected to give birth to her first baby this summer.
