A truck went on fire on the Queensboro Bridge Friday resulting in heavy smoke in the area and forcing all lanes to close until the fire was put out, NY Scanner revealed the breaking news on Twitter.

The truck that went on fire was reportedly Queens-bound. The reason for the fire has not been identified. Queens-bound upper and lower levels remain closed, according to several reports. The FDNY posted a notice on its Twitter page Friday called for all-hands on deck when news of the fire first broke.

"MAN ALL HANDS ED KOCH QUEENSBORO BRIDGE, FIRE ON BRIDGE LOWER LEVEL," the message read.
