Controversial defense lawyer Alan Dershowitz, who famously helped negotiate a non-prosecution agreement on Jeffrey Epstein's behalf in 2006, went live on YouTube to defend Sean "Diddy" Combs's right to bail, despite acknowledging that the evidence against him appears "pretty strong."

Diddy, the disgraced 54-year-old music mogul who has pleaded not guilty to racketeering and sex trafficking charges, has been denied bail twice despite his attorney offering a $50 million bail package on Diddy's behalf.

Dershowitz, who has a long and notorious past defending some deeply unpopular clients, shared in an X post that "P Diddy should be out on bail." Later, he went live on YouTube to explain why he thinks the judge should have accepted the bail package.

The Harvard law professor started by explaining that Diddy isn't a flight risk and isn't likely to commit crimes while out on bail. He added that Diddy would've left much earlier if he had plans to do so, instead of going to New York where he knew he would be indicted.

"If he wanted to run away, he has private planes, he could've left in the months prior to some country without an extradition treaty," Dershowitz said.

Dershowitz also noted that, at this point, the judge hasn't been presented with enough evidence to deny Diddy's bail. As such, the judge "should not be entitled to put somebody in jail pending trial just because the judge believes that he'll probably be convicted and probably is guilty."

He added, "You just don't know what the jury would do if OJ Simpson was held in jail pending trial for over a year." Dershowitz was a member of Simpson's "Dream Team" of lawyers during his murder trial, and helped secure his acquittal.

Toward the end of his show, Dershowitz conceded Diddy will "probably" serve jail time.

Social media users were quick to react to both Dershowitz's X post and his YouTube video, with one X user asking, "Dawg how are you close with both the white Epstein and the black Epstein?"

Another said, "Harvey Weinstein is currently unavailable to offer Diddy his support, but we got the next best thing, Alan Dershowitz!"
