Comedian and actor Gianmarco Soresi left news anchors speechless when he joked about Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, being his cousin and getting stuck at work, hence not being able to spend the holidays with him and his family.

Soresi appeared on the Morning News broadcast of New York City-based television channel PIX11 in order to discuss his stand-up comedy career and promote his upcoming tour, including a special New Year's Eve show he will be hosting.

During the interview, Soresi talked about how the holiday season can be difficult for some families.

"You know, the holidays are tough sometimes. I was supposed to spend it with my cousin but he got caught up at work. We're watching, we're proud of you Luigi," said Soresi.

The two anchors interviewing him immediately begin laughing, rendered speechless by Soresi's joke mentioning Mangione, who recently pleaded not guilty to 11 federal charges levied against him during his court appearance on Monday.

Soresi later took to X to share that PIX11 had taken down the interview with him. Though Soresi's interview is listed on PIX11's website, it is not available to be played.

Social media users took to the replies of Soresi's post to commend him for his joke and comment on the controversial nature of Mangione as a topic of discussion in the media.

"You know from that laughter that they understand the achievement and don't condemn it even though they can't condone it...on tv," wrote one user.

"He said that on live tv and the anchors are just giggling - jury selection is gonna be wild asf," wrote another.

"No one does it like gianmarco we are watching a genius in real time," said a third.
