Carol Acosta, better known as influencer "Killadamente," has passed away at the age of 27. Her sister confirmed the news through an Instagram post, leaving her fans and followers in shock. "I love you, sister, and I will always love you. I thank God for giving me a sister with such a big heart. Rest in peace," wrote her sister.

Acosta, born in the Dominican Republic and residing in New York City, amassed a following of over 6.5 million on Instagram with content focused on empowering women.

Her work centered on sharing life experiences, supporting Latino women with body positivity, and providing fashion and beauty tips. She was also an activist against domestic violence and bullying.

Her signature hashtag, "#meamoynomeimporta" (I love myself and I don't care), gained widespread recognition, even appearing in a Times Square billboard promoting self-love.

Fellow content creator Príncipe Karim expressed his sorrow, remembering her as a vibrant woman full of energy and plans. "So young, full of energy, with an entire life ahead. You were an amazing woman, friend, mother, daughter, and sister. Peace to your soul and comfort to your loved ones. I will miss you," he wrote.

While her family has not disclosed an official cause of death, reports from other influencers suggest she may have died from a cardiorespiratory arrest after choking while dining at a restaurant.

However, this has not been confirmed. Acosta had been managing her weight with the medication Ozempic in recent months. Carol leaves behind two young children, her parents, and siblings.

The family has since launched a GoFundMe page to cover funeral expenses and provide support for her children.

The GoFundMe page reads: "On January 3, 2025, we lost our beloved Carol, known to the world as Killadamente. The Acosta González family shares this pain with everyone who knew her. At such a young age, Carol touched thousands of lives through her work. Now we come together to ask for your help to give her the farewell she deserves. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help cover funeral expenses and support her family and children as they face this unimaginable loss."

The fundraiser, organized by her older sister Elizabeth Acosta, who lives in Newark, New Jersey, aims to raise $15,000. By the time of this publication, nearly $10,000 had been raised.

How did Killadamente die?

A cousin shared on social media that an autopsy would be conducted to determine the exact cause of her death. According to the account, Carol was dining on the evening of January 3 when she began to choke and lost the ability to breathe.

"All I know is that she was eating normally, then started choking and couldn't breathe. She had an attack... they took her to the hospital, but they couldn't save her," the cousin recounted.

Her other sister, Kate Acosta, expressed the family's gratitude for the outpouring of love and support through emotional Instagram videos, acknowledging how deeply the loss has affected them.

Acosta's death comes just weeks after the passing of another influencer, Dominique Brown, who died on December 5, 2024, at 34, following a severe allergic reaction at a holiday event in Los Angeles. May she rest in peace.
