A French woman was convinced she was dating Brad Pitt and upended her life to be with him only to find out that she was being scammed.

The 53-year-old woman, who went by Anne, according to BFM TV, said it started when she received a Facebook message from the scammer acting as Pitt's mother in February 2023.

Anne then received a message from the scammer posing as the famous actor, sparking the doomed affair.

The victim said she only communicated with the fake Pitt through text messages since he was never available for phone calls, BFM TV reported. The scammer did, however, send AI-generated videos of the actor to string Anne along.

Months later, the scammer asked Anne to marry him, prompting her to divorce her millionaire husband. The scammer then told Anne he bought her lavish gifts but needed more than $9,000 to get it through customs, which she provided.

After the victim was awarded nearly $800,000 through her divorce settlement, the scammer informed her he needed treatment for kidney cancer and sent AI-generated photos and videos of Pitt in a hospital bed.

The scammer added he couldn't use his own money because of his ongoing divorce settlement with Angelina Jolie, according to BFM TV, so Anne sent it. Anne only learned she had been deceived after she saw photos of the real Pitt with his new girlfriend, Ines de Ramon.

Anne filed a complaint in 2024, triggering an investigation that turned her world upside down. She is now receiving care for severe depression at a clinic while police continue searching for the scammer, the report said.

Surprisingly, this isn't the first time Pitt's identity has been used as a front for an illicit operation. In September 2024, five people in Spain were arrested for extorting more than $330,000 from two women.
