WNBA star player Caitlin Clark was forced to go incognito after a Texas man began obsessively messaging her on X and sharing "concerning" posts before driving to Indiana to be closer to her.

Michael Thomas Lewis, 55, wrote sexually violent and threatening messages and posts about the 22-year-old athlete starting in December 2024, according to reporting by FOX 59.

FBI officials were alerted to the messages and traced them back to Lewis, who they then learned had driven from Denton to Indianapolis.

"Been driving around your house 3x a day," Lewis messaged the Indiana Fever star while in Indianapolis. "But don't call the law just yet."

Law enforcement located the alleged stalker at a hotel in Indianapolis on Jan. 8. While questioning him about his social media activity, Lewis claimed he was in town for vacation and didn't mean any harm to Clark.

"It's an imagination, fantasy type thing and it's a joke, and it's nothing to do with threatening," he told police, according to the court documents obtained by FOX 59.

Lewis was arrested on Sunday and charged with felony stalking. If convicted, he faces up to $10,000 in fines and one to six years in prison.
