'Applause' Lady Gaga Takes Dad As Her Date to MTV Video Music Awards: Red Carpet PHOTOS
Lady Gaga stunned in a gorgeous black dress as she arrived with her father Joseph for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards in New York on Sunday, August 25.
Gaga is set to open the MTV Video Music Awards with her latest single, Applause.
The track hails from Mother Monster's upcoming album, Artpop.
While the pop star has been rather quite for nearly two years, Lady Gaga recently broke back into the public conscience with the release of the Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin directed Applause music video.
"I am opening the show," Lady Gaga said, according to MTV. "I'm dancing and what you see in the [Applause] video is where I am now with my body. I'm dancing 'til my feet bleed every day to make sure I give the fans a performance that they won't forget."

Katy Perry will also offer a comeback performance--she has not performed at the MTV VMA's since 2009. She will sing the first single, Roar, from her upcoming album--Prism--which will be released Oct. 22.
Other artists scheduled to hit the stage include Drake, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
Cyrus, who has been nominated for Best Female Video, will perform We Can't Stop; Robin Thicke will perform his chart-topping controversial single Blurred Lines and Kanye West will perform for the seventh time at the VMAs. Timberlake is rumored to reunite onstage NSync, his former boyband group.
Former NSync member Joey Fatone's father has confirmed a reunion, saying that his son and Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick are set to reunite for the show.
Joseph Fatone Sr told RadarOnline: "They're doing a performance. I think it's exciting. I couldn't even say why he's doing it though. Why, at this point in his life. Now he's his own man. But it's more to the fact thatMTV has made them all somewhat of stars, and also made Justin a star."
Timberlake will receive this year's highest honor, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Late night talk show host JImmy Fallon will present it to the Suit & Tie singer.
Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are tied with six nominations each.
The duo earned a nom for Video of the Year for Thrift Shop and Best Hip Hop Video with Can't Hold Us.

The 2013 VMA Red Carpet will begin at 6 p.m. EST, the Pre Show will kick off at 8 p.m. EST and the Video Music Awards will start at 9 p.m. EST.
