Selena Gomez won the award for Best Pop Video for her song Come & Get It at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.

The 21-year-old was up against Bruno Mars' Locked Out Of Heaven, Justin Timberlake's Mirrors, Fun's Carry On and Miley Cyrus' We Can't Stop. The singer, who wore a long blue gown to the award show at New York's Barclays Center, said her thanks with a short speech.

Come & Get It, the lead single off Gomez's recently released album Stars Dance, topped the charts in July giving the singer her first No. 1 ever. The teary-eyed singer shared the news with her fans via YouTube.

"I've done four records and this is the first No. 1 that I've ever had so I can not thank you guys enough. I want to thank every radio station, my label and the most important of all is my fans for loving the song, for requesting it, it means to much to me," she said in the clip. "I love you all."

She also took to Twitter to continue to express her excitement.

"This has been 1 of my proudest achievements & I couldn't do it without everyone! So grateful," she wrote along with a photo displaying her song at the top of the charts.

Stars Dance, which Gomez released on July 23, also became her first No. 1 album to date.
