Taylor Swift won the award for Best Female Video for her song I Knew You Were Trouble at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
The singer was up against Rihanna's Stay featuring Mikky Ekko, Miley Cyrus' We Can't Stop, Pink's Just Give Me A Reason featuring Nate Reuss and Demi Lovato's Heart Attack.
During her acceptance speech, the 23-year-old thanked an unexpected individual.

"I also want to thank the person who inspired this song who knows exactly who he is because now I got one of these," she said. "Thank you so much."
The video, which was released in December 2012, has garnered over 133 million views on YouTube and peaked at No. 2 on Billboard. The song, which appears on her fourth studio album Red, was reportedly written for her ex-boyfriend John Mayer. The couple dated briefly in 2010.
"It's a song that is one of my favorite songs on the album, because it sounds just as chaotic as the feeling was when I wrote it," Swift said on Good Morning America in 2012. "It's a song about kind of being frustrated with yourself because here you are heartbroken and you knew when you first saw that person, you saw all these red flags and you just went for it anyway, so shame on me."
