Bruno Mars won the Best Male Video award for Locked Out Of Heaven at the 2013 Video Music Awards on Sunday. The award became his first moonman to date.

The singer was up against Justin Timberlake's Mirrors, Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines featuring T.I. and Pharrell, Ed Sheeran's Lego House and Kendrick Lamar's Swimming Pools.

The Locked Out Of Heaven video, which was released in October 2012, garnered over 185 million views on YouTube. The song is off Mars' sophomore album, Unorthodox Jukebox, both of which went to No. 1 on Billboard.

"It's one of those albums that will take you on a journey," Mars said of the record during an interview with iHeartRadio in March. "And if you listen to it from one to 10, I really feel like you will understand what has been going on with me in the past couple years."

During the interview, he also said that he was attempting to be very honest with Unorthodox Jukebox's music. Additionally, he hoped that the new material, especially his single Locked Out Of Heaven, would allow people to understand that he's a versatile artist.
