Sean Penn received the 2012 Peace Summit Award for his work in devastated Haiti.

The Oscar winning actor delivered an emotional speech today at the 12th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Chicago.

"It's an overused phrase I know, but I trust you know its genuine today, I am humbled. I'm trembling and I like it," Penn said, according to AP.

Penn founded the charitable organization J/P Haitian Relief Organization to provide food, sanitation and health care to people in Haiti.

Every year, the Nobel Laureates honor a cultural or entertainment personality who has promoted peace and stood up for human rights.
