Following her first performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Ariana Grande released a new song You'll Never Know.

"I've been working on my album for three years and I am so excited to finally share it with everyone now," she told Rolling Stone in a Wednesday report. "You'll Never Know is a special song and I hope you love it as much as I do."

The song stresses her exceptional vocal ability on the track. Listen to it here.

"Now it's probably hard for you to hear but there's nothing left for you to say. Had my heart all in your hands but what you don't understand is a girl like me don't have no time to waste around," she sings.

You'll Never Know appears on her upcoming debut album Yours Truly. Grande released the album's lead single The Way, featuring Mac Miller, in March and the tune earned her comparisons to Mariah Carey, whom she admires.

"You know I love just like old R&B. I love the '90s, that whole vibe. I love Mariah Carey, of course, she's the goddess of all vocals," she told MTV in May. "But, yeah, I just wanted to do something old school and soulful and something that I like to sing. And that's what I really clicked with."

Her manager Scooter Braun also spoke to MTV about Grande's sound on the debut.

"Her album is a throwback to the great R&B of the '90s," he said in a July interview. "And she has some incredible ballads on there."

Braun also revealed that the album will be followed by a sophomore effort in February or March.

"She's recording so much music that we feel like we can keep the momentum going. I'm so incredibly excited about the album and the music. This girl would live in the studio if she had the opportunity," he said.

Yours Truly hits stores on Sept. 3.
