Girls Gone Wild creator, Joe Francis was sentenced to 270 days in prison and three years' probation on Aug. 27 for assaulting a woman in his LA mansion in 2011.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Nancy L. Newman also ordered that he complete an anger management course and attend 53 sessions of psychological counseling.

His bail has been set at $250m, allowing the 40-year-old to remain out of jail until his case is processed for appeal.

Francis' lawyer Steve Levine said that he will re-appeal against the decision in court as key details of the case weren't proven.

"Joe has always maintained his innocence," Mr Levine said. But he also conceded to the fact that the judge had taken "a very fair and measured decision."

The crime took place on Jan. 29 2011 at Francis' Bel Air home. Francis met three women at a college graduation party at the Supper Club in Hollywood. He grabbed the arm of one of the girls and took her to his limo, and the two others followed, believing they'd be taken to their car. Instead, they ended up in a gated area of his home. When one of the girls resisted and tried to pull away one of her friends whom Francis was particularly interested in, he took the victim to the ground "choked her, slammed her head against the ground, dragged her across the ground, and when she got back up, did it several more times," according to deputy city attorney Mitchell Fox.

When Francis was convicted in May, he had lashed out at the the jury in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter calling it "retarded" and suggesting that the "jury should be lined up and shot dead by a firing squad." He later apologized for his callous remarks.
