Kendrick Lamar has finally spoken about his controversial verse on Big Sean's Control and explained that people misinterpreted his words.

"It made me feel like I've got to probably dumb down my lyrics nowadays for the people that take it way out of context the way they did," he told Hot 97's Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg Show on Thursday.

Big Sean debuted Control, the new song which features Jay Electronica and Lamar, earlier in August. On the track Lamar crowns himself one of the best rappers in the game along with Jay Z, Nas, Eminem and Andre 3000. Although he's from the West Coast, he also deems himself the "King of N.Y." But, Lamar said that his self-proclamation shouldn't be taken so seriously.

"It's not about the coast, it's not about what side we on. It's about being as big as Biggie or Pac, the two cats that I've referenced from jump," he said. "For people that try and make it out into something that it's not, I'd never take the history behind what Pac laid or what B.I.G. laid."

Wale Responds To Kendrick Lamar's Control Verse

The Compton native also called out several hip-hop artists, including J. Cole, Wale, Pusha T, Meek Millz, Big KRIT, Drake, Tyler the Creator and Mac Miller. Lamar even added Big Sean and Jay Electronica to the list.

"I'm trying to make sure your core fans never heard of you," he rapped about them. "They don't want to hear not one more noun or verb from you."

Rappers Who Responded To Kendrick Lamar

Several rappers who weren't even featured on the song recorded responses to Lamar. However, the Compton native believes that these rappers didn't understand his intention.

"I think the ones that really took it out of context was the people that we know want to grab an opportunity off the hype of the record rather than actually tuning in and listening and knowing how hungry I am," he said. "A lot of people think it's about talent. That's why they get it wrong. I'm saying that I'm the most hungry in this."
