'The Voice' Season 5 Premiere: Christina Aguilera Picks Ed Sheeran To Advice Team In Battle Rounds [VIDEO]
Christina Aguilera has officially chosen her team advisor for season 5 of The Voice.
Aguilera is bringing on popular singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran to help her team of singers on the upcoming season of The Voice. The Lego House singer will appear on the popular singing competition's battle rounds, in which the coach pairs up two of singers on the same team to face off in a sing-off and one advances to the next round while the other gets eliminated. Past advisors have helped struggling singers pick the right songs and give advice on performing and singing.
In past seasons, Aguilera has brought in famous singers as Jewel, Lionel Richie, Sia and Billie Joe Armstrong as advisors. The Voice battle rounds for the upcoming season are scheduled for Oct. 14 and 15 on NBC.
Sheeran has risen to prominence most recently for lending his vocals to Taylor Swift's single Everything Has Changed. He is currently the opening act on Swift's Red Tour and was nominated for a Grammy for Song of the Year for his debut single, The A Team.
Aguilera is returning to the coaching/judging panel after taking season 4 off this spring. She returns with Cee-Lo Green, who also took the season off. Both will rejoin Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as judges.
Season 5 of The Voice is scheduled to premiere on Monday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. on NBC. In addition to its Monday time slot it will also air every Tuesday at 9 p.m. on NBC.
