While actress Dakota Johnson isn't exactly an unknown in tinseltown, there are surely a fair share of the millions of Fifty Shades of Grey loyalists that certainly could become more familiar with her.

The 23-year-old daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith has been officially attached to play the role of the shy college graduate turned "Red Room of Pain" participant Anastasia Steele in the erotic flick alongside Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam (Christian Grey). Interesting enough, she's also the stepdaughter of Birds standout Tippi Hedren.

Aside from playing notable roles in The Social Network and 21 Jump Street. she initially bursted onto the acting scene in the 1999 film, Crazy In Alabama, where she played alongside her half-sister Stella Banderas and mom, Griffith.

Johnson won Miss Golden Globe in 2006, serving as the first second generation winner, taking after her mother, who also nabbed the award in the past. The young actress was signed to IMG Models in the same year and went on to become the face of MANGO jeans in 2009.

Johnson had spoken to USA Today back in September, and dished on her passion in the business, which has clearly ran in her bloodline for quite some time.

"This is my passion. This is my job. I love it more than anything. I'm so happy when I'm working. I love doing improv. I love comedy. I have always felt this way, even when I was really young. I'd watch my parents work and think, yeah, I'm going to do that. It wasn't even a thing. It's the only thing I know how to do," she said.

Fifty Shades of Grey is slated to launch on the big screen on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2014. Be sure to check back for more of the latest info on the erotic movie.
