Sandra Bullock and George Clooney Starrer 'Gravity': Official Main Trailer Release; Most Revelatory Yet [VIDEO]
The official trailer for the Sandra Bullock and George Clooner starrer Gravity is out.
The clip shows Bullock's character, Dr. Ryan Stone, in the midst of a calamitous predicament while spacewalking. Her space shuttle has been hit and destroyed by space debris. The scene packs in the chaos that leads up to Bullock's character eventually detaching the cord that connects her to the shuttle, sending her swerving into the expansive void. She panics as voices from ground control try to get a sense of her location. As she can't figure her coordinates, she goes into hyperventilation mode.
Further on in the clip, a voice-over (from earth) asks Dr. Stone where home is. She reveals that her home is in Zurich, Illinois.
"Is there somebody down there looking up, thinking about you?" the voice asks.
"I had a daughter. A little girl with brown hair. Tell her that I am not quitting," she responds.
While the trailer is very dramatic and sonically excitable like the previous teasers for the film (Don't Let Go and Detached), director Alfonso Cuarón suggested that the trailers are not completely suggestive of what the film would be like.
"In the film, there is no sound in space," he said at Comic-Con earlier this year. Also adding, "No matter the spectacle, it's the emotional core."
At the conference Bullock also spoke about her experience spending ten hours a day, locked up in a 9X9 feet cube to help Cuarón gain technical perspective for filming.
George Clooney's plays astronaut Matt Kowalsky in the film. He accompanies Dr. Stone on the space expedition that goes awry.
The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Aug. 28.

Gravity will release in theaters on Oct. 4.
