'Thor The Dark World' Spoilers: Director Dishes On Historical Approach To Movie [VIDEO, NEWS]
Thor: The Dark World will be very different look from the first film in the franchise, its director Alan Taylor said in a recent interview with SFX Magazine
The visionary went into the project with a different approach, following in the footsteps of Kenneth Branagh's 2011 Thor, and the planet of Asgard will have a less 'clean' look in the new movie. Taylor previously helmed Game of Thrones and credits his love of period pieces for his artistic approach, which worked in his favor to shoot the movie.
"I was lucky that Marvel seemed to have an appetite for that this time," he said. "They'd consciously steered away from that kind of thing in the first one, because they wanted to make sure they were distinguishing themselves from Lord of the Rings. They didn't want to be mistaken for that. But by the time I came along it seemed like they were ready to embrace a slightly more historical attitude towards it."
Some of the changes fans can expect to see with Taylor's vision include Thor riding on horseback throughout the movie despite the advanced technology on Asgard, something the director felt fit the image of a "warrior prince from an ancient culture."
Taylor's vision for the film was previously praised by Kat Dennings, who plays Darcy in the film.
The new film puts Thor on his most dangerous and personal journey yet as he faced with an enemy that neither Odin nor Asgard can withstand, according to the summary on IMDB.
The film, starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, hits theaters Nov. 8.
