'American Horror Story: Coven' Spoilers: Sarah Paulson Promises 'Fun' Season 3 & Patti LuPone Character Details [VIDEO]
Fans can expect American Horror Story: Coven to be much more fun than last season's Asylum, according to a new interview with series regular Sarah Paulson.
Paulson, who played Lana Winters in season 2 and will play a character named Cordelia in season 3, confirmed to E!Online in a Tuesday report that the upcoming season would be more fun.
"I definitely feel that this season has a lighter tone. There is some humor there. Jessica [Lange]'s got some real zingers this year," Paulson revealed. "Last year, to me, was really extraordinary because it was really about something and that time period in our country's history."
In the upcoming season of American Horror Story, Lange stars as Fiona Goode, a Supreme witch who flocks to New Orleans to try and save her coven of witches from being killed.
"I sort of feel like this year [series co-creator] Ryan [Murphy] finds a way to tell the story of the forgotten and left behind and that's what he does so brilliantly and this will be some of that as well," Paulson continued. "But there are a lot of powerful women and there are some extraordinary actresses on the show and some real powerhouses, so the fireworks are liable to fly!"

In other American Horror Story news, the first photo of actress Patti LuPone in character was released via TVGuide on Monday. Executive producer Tim Minear talked to TVGuide about the character LuPone will be playing.
"Patti will be playing someone who will go up against Fiona and her daughter Cordelia," Minear said. LuPone plays Joan Ramsey, a woman who moves next door to Fiona and Cordelia's witchcraft school. "Patti's character is a bit of a holy roller who has recently lost her husband under suspicious circumstances," Minear teased.
American Horror Story: Coven is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. on FX.
