AMC announced a spin-off of their hit show The Walking Dead.

The new series will premiere in 2015 and be set in the same post-apocalyptic universe as Dead, but will see this world from the perspective of new characters. The spin-off will reportedly have the same creative team as Walking Dead, including producer Robert Kirkman, and executive producers Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert.

A name has not been revealed for the spin-off show.

Kirkman, who also co-created and wrote the comic book series that Dead is based on, expressed his excitement over the new opportunity in a released statement.

"After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn't be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe," he said. "The opportunity to make a show that isn't tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing."

AMC's President and General Manager Charlie Collier also released a statement about the new project.

"Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer," he said. "We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It's a big world and we can't wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse."

Season 4 of The Walking Dead premieres Sun. Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
