In the upcoming sixth season of ABC's hit TV series, Castle, veteran actress Lisa Edelstein will come on board to play a pivotal role as Beckett's (Stana Katic) mentor, Rachel McCord.

Edelstein, who's known for her work on Scandal and House, recently spoke to TV Fanatic about working alongside Katic as well as the new season ahead.

"Stana Katic and I had a lot of laughs. She is a very sweet girl and we clicked the minute we met. It was just an easy transition into an already moving machine. So I was really grateful for that. I had such a nice time," she said.

The actress went on to elaborate on the season 6 dynamic between Beckett and McCord, and how her character motivates the former to be at the top of her crime game.

"She really is a mentor to Beckett, who I think influences her in the sense that Beckett knows McCord wants her to be bigger, faster, stronger in her life. And so she tries to please McCord in those ways. The issues that come up are surprising ones but ones you'd expect. But Beckett and McCord have wonderful friendship that's building," she said.
