'The Originals' Spoilers: Klaus’s Impending Fatherhood To Negatively Effect Him ? [VIDEOS, NEWS]
The premiere of The CW's The Originals is still a couple of weeks away, but that doesn't mean the cast is keeping everything quiet.
Joseph Morgan, who stars as Klaus Mikaelson in the Vampire Diaries spin-off, recently sat down with the network to talk about how finding out he's an expectant father motivates his character in the battles that surface throughout the show.
"I think the idea of a baby on the way has really thrown Klaus," the actor said. "He's faced almost everything in the last thousand years; there's not many things that can take him by surprise. But this is a first for him."
Finding out that werewolf Haley Marshall, whom Klaus had a one-night stand with, is pregnant with his child isn't the only drama facing him and the other Mikaelson siblings as they return to their hometown of New Orleans in the series, according to wetpaint.com.
They also have to deal with two battles: one against Klaus's protégé Marcel, who has taken control of the area; and a second against the witches of the city who are holding Haley hostage for Klaus's cooperation in taking down Marcel, who has outlawed magic.
If Klaus does cooperate with the witches at any point, it could be where Klaus has a change of heart about his child.
"Deep down it appeals to his sense of family, because that is very strong within him." Morgan said. "It's going to be difficult for him to reconcile himself with the idea of raising a child, of caring for someone else more than he cares for himself."
The Originals premieres Thursday, Oct. 3 at 9:00 p.m. on the CW.
