Claire Danes Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy Awards 2013 Winner for 'Homeland' [VIDEO]
Claire Danes won the Emmy award Sunday night for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as a CIA detective in Homeland.
Her fellow nominees included Connie Britton for Nashville, Kerry Washington for Scandal, Michelle Dockery for Downton Abbey, Vera Farmiga for Bates Motel, Elizabeth Moss for Mad Men and Robin Wright for House of Cards.
Danes thanked the cast and crew of her Showtime show and her husband Hugh Dancy, whom she called "my love, my balanace and crush."
This year marked the first time Washington was nominated for an Emmy. People magazine recently named her the Best Dressed Woman of 2012. She has previously starred in major motion pictures such as Ray, The Last King of Scotland, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and I Think I Love My Wife.
CBS' How I Met Your Mother actor Neil Patrick Harris hosted the Emmy Awards for the second time.

The 2013 Emmy Awards included a musical performances by Elton John and Carrie Underwood, and a choreography routine that featured Emmy-nominated dancers from Dancing With the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance.
