With the Christian Grey role now official filled by the likes of Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam, many fans were disappointed to see that frontrunner and Vampire Diaries standout, Ian Somerhalder, didn't land the role.

Chatter had been circulating throughout the Internet that the 34-year-old was considerably upset over the final casting decision. However, Somerhalder recently spoke to RYOT about the speculation surrounding his supposed dismal mood, which he says wasn't nearly as affected as fans made it out to be.

"I'm on a TV show that shoots 10 months a year. It's so funny, you read these blogs: 'Ian Somerhalder angry, livid he's not Christian Grey' --- I mean, no, no, no, there's none of that," he said.

The actor had appeared on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live in March and seemingly suggested that he was close to nabbing the part.

"I think they have a very big job ahead of them, casting this role. So, I can't say anything other than, it's a very interesting story and whoever plays that role is going to have a lot of fun rehearsal time," he said.

Fifty Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel stated that she'd be adhering to the original content of author E.L. James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness. The highly anticipated flick is scheduled to launch on the big screen on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2014.
