Ashton Kutcher's ad for Popchips was pulled down after people complained of racism.

The ad sparked criticism on the web after Kutcher appeared with brown face to portray Raj, a Bollywood producer looking for love.

But the company denied it intended to be racist.

"The new popchips worldwide dating parody featuring four characters was created to provoke a few laughs and was never intended to stereotype or offend anyone," it said in a statement to ABC News.

"At popchips we embrace all types of shapes, flavors and colors, and appreciate all snackers, no matter their race or ethnicity. We hope people can enjoy this in the spirit it was intended."
