Selena Gomez Replaces Miley Cyrus Vogue Cover Following Raunchy 2013 VMAs Performance?
Vogue decided to not feature Miley Cyrus on its December 2013 cover and may chose Selena Gomez to replace her, according to new reports.
The magazine originally wanted the Wrecking Ball singer to grace its winter cover but changed its mind after the 20-year-old gave a raunchy performance at the 2013 Video Music Awards. Vogue editor Anna Wintour was reportedly not impressed by Cyrus' antics on stage, in which she grinded on Robin Thicke, twerked on stage and danced around in a nude-colored pair of shorts and bikini top.
Recent photos of Wintour meeting with Gomez fueled rumors that the 21-year-old former Disney star might be the new cover girl. They were potted "deep in conversation" at the Four Seasons hotel in Milan, Italy, on Sept. 21, Daily Mail reported. Both were in town for Milan Fashion Week but Gomez is also traveling as part of her Stars Dance world tour.
If Gomez does get the spot on the magazine's front page it will be her first ever American Vogue cover. She continues to make connections in the fashion world and was recently photographed sharing wine and talking with designer Donatella Versace. The two sat next to each other at a dinner party and Gomez uploaded on Instagram a photo of her laughing with Versace. She captioned the shot, "To be great, learn from the greatest."
Cyrus has not commented on Vogue dropping her from its magazine's lineup. She graced the cover of Rolling Stone's October 2013 issue and also Harper's Bazaar's September 2013 issue.
