'Homeland' Season 3 Premiere: Carrie 'Very Isolated' in Premiere Episodes & Dana Tries to Kill Herself? [VIDEO]
With the season 3 premiere of Homeland just days away, the cast and crew have teased what viewers can expect from the show this season.
Season 3 picks up in the wake of the bombing at Langley, which resulted in the deaths of over 200 CIA agents. Carrie (Claire Danes) must testify in front of the Senate Select Committee to explain what happened the day of the bombing.
Danes told TVGuide in a Wednesday report that Carrie will be put through a lot this season, starting with the Senate hearing.
"She's being taken to task for her intelligence failures, bad judgment, mental illness, the whole nine yards." Danes explained. "Carrie is very isolated throughout this season. I was very stranded as a character and an actor."
Carrie will be in a downward spiral as she tries to prove Brody's (Damian Lewis) innocence in the Langley bombing. With Brody in exile, Carrie will be without the man she loves for several episodes.

Brody's family will also be deeply affected by his absence, to this extent that Jessica (Morena Baccarin) reaches out to Carrie "to try to make sense of things," according to Baccarin. "It's very heavy when the season opens." Brody and Jessica's daughter Dana (Morgan Saylor) tries to kill herself while bricks are thrown through their windows.
With everything in a state of ruin, season 3 will largely be about the main characters trying to rebuild.
"Everything that's been left behind seems broken and dysfunctional," Lewis told TVGuide. "The season will be about whether these people, these institutions, can be built back, block by block, and effect some kind of recovery."
Lewis added that the writers have recalibrated for season 3 and intend on writing a "darker, more hard-boiled show" as opposed to the relatively "cartoony" season 2.
