'50 Shades of Grey' Movie Cast: Charlie Hunnam Giving Up Christian Grey Role Amid Petition By 70,000 Fans? [NEWS & Details]
All didn't seem well in the world of Fifty Shades of Grey over the weekend, as it was being reported that Charlie Hunnam, the newly casted Christian Grey, may be relinquishing the groundbreaking role due to a petition that thousands of fans signed to remove him from the saucy flick.
While Celebrity Dirty Laundry made the initial announcement, the respective information is said to be just a rumor at this point. However, the website stated that over 70,000 loyalists gave their John Hancock on the petition in order to have White Collar's Matt Bomer replace Hunnam.
Fortunately for those who do approve of the British actor, he's yet to state that he'd quit the movie. To top it off, he even said that he has great chemistry with the newly casted Anastasia Steele in Dakota Johnson.
The 33-year-old actor apparently wants to delve into film more once Sons of Anarchy comes to an end, which is a good reason he initially took the role as Grey.
Fifty Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel stated that she'd be sticking to the original content of author James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness. The highly anticipated movie is scheduled to launch in theaters on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2014.
