Christina Aguilera made it clear that her priority lies with her 5-year-old son Max and not hitting the gym.

"If I have to choose between working out and spending time with my son after a hard day, it's not even a question," Aguilera told November's Redbook.

Yet, the star has lost a significant amount of weight in the past year, reportedly shedding almost 50 pounds. Aguilera hinted that little Max might have played a role in her weight loss.

"If I can squeeze in a workout, great. If not, that's ok, too," she recently told The Associated Press. "Running around with him all day is pretty good exercise."

Throughout her long career, Aguilera has often been criticized for her weight fluctuation. But, she's made it clear that the negative comments have never affected her confidence.

"I've been through my highs; I've been through my lows. Being too thin, being bigger. I've been criticized for being on both sides of the scale. It's a noise I block out. I love my body. My boyfriend loves my body. My son is healthy and happy, so that's all that matters to me," she told Marie Claire in January 2012.

Aside from talking about her body, Aguilera also spoke to Redbook about The Voice. She told the magazine that Max is also the main reason she took a hiatus from the competition show during season 4.

"I needed to decompress, wind down the clock and just breathe," she told the magazine. "I needed to find out who I am outside of that red chair. We did three seasons, and I wanted to disengage and have my life back and be with my son - put my sweatpants on and wipe my makeup off."
