‘Wonder Woman’ Movie: Warner Bros. Set To Make up for 'Missed Opportunities' On Female Superhero? [VIDEO, NEWS]
Calls for a female superhero movie may have been heard by at least one production company CEO.
In a recent interview at the USC Gould School of Law, Warner Bros. Entertainment CEO Kevin Tsujihara spoke briefly about the company's DC Comics projects. He acknowledged that a female superhero is needed in films and specifically named Wonder Woman as a potential hero that has been missing from screens for too long.
"We need to get Wonder Woman on the big screen or TV," he said.
The Amazonian superhero hasn't had much luck making it onto the small screen as of late. David E. Kelley developed a pilot for NBC back in 2011 that would star Adrianne Palicki, but it was pulled after the script was leaked, according to MTV. A Wonder Woman reboot titled Amazon was also rumored to be in development for The CW, but that too was later scrapped.

Tsujihara also acknowledged that the company hasn't tapped the movie market as much as they should have, calling the lack of movies developed based on DC superheroes a "missed opportunity."
Warner Bros. has only developed films about Batman (The Dark Knight trilogy) and Superman (Man of Steel), which have been successful. Its main competitor, Marvel, produced several blockbuster films based on superheroes such as The Avengers in 2012, which became the third-highest grossing film of all time with an estimated $1.5 billion gross. The only other films to perform better were the James Cameron juggernauts of Avatar and Titanic, which both grossed well over $2 billion each.
