Lady Gaga 'ARTPOP' Cover Art PHOTO Features Koons Sculpture; New Song 'Aura' Releases Tuesday [VIDEO]
Lady Gaga revealed the cover art for her upcoming album ARTPOP via Twitter on Monday.
The singer-songwriter started to build anticipation around the cover earlier in the day when she tweeted, "Album cover can be unlocked in 30 min by trending #iHeartARTPOP ! I'll be in the bathroom throwing up #iHeartPanicAttack #WheresMyInhaler."
She went on to divulge that the "center image" of the cover -- a luminous blue ball that is seated in the middle of her legs, hiding her crotch -- was a new Jeff Koons sculpture that will be unveiled at artRAVE, the release party for ARTPOP, on Nov. 10.
Gaga also went on to quote "One second I'm a Koons/Then suddenly Koons is me," lyrics rom her album's first single Applause.
Gaga looks pale and jaded on the cover, wearing a platinum blonde wig of straight hair that falls down to her breasts, which are covered by her hands. There are fragments of renaissance art in the back drop with "Lady Gaga" and "Artpop" splashed across the cover in pink and blue lettering.
Gaga recently teased Aura, another song from the album, in the new trailer for Machete Kills. The full song will be released on Tuesday as a special Machete Kills lyric video. In the feature film, Gaga plays Lady Chamelion, a blond-haired, glamorous assassin.
ARTPOP is out in stores Nov. 11.
