Mariah Carey wrote a letter to her fans on Facebook to update them on her forthcoming album and recent injury.

In regards to The Art Of Letting Go, Carey let her fans know that the record is worth the wait.

"This is, to me, one of the most important albums I've ever made in my life," she wrote. "If you're a lamb, a fan, or just a human being that needs to feel good, happy, sad, miserable, joyous... "I gotcha" (said like Roc- you haven't heard how he says it yet but you will soon, it's a complete+total classic!)"

The record was originally set for release on on July 23, but Carey felt that she needed more time to perfect her first record since 2010. In June, she tweeted her fans to let them know that she postponed the release date.

"While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don't feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23," she tweeted. "I'd rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it's meant to be heard. When I'm ready, you'll be the first to know."

In her post, she also addressed her recovery. In July, the singer was rushed to the hospital because she dislocated her shoulder and broke a rib while shooting a video. Since then she's covered up her right arm with stylish slings.

"The last three months of my life have not been easy," she said. "Getting through this injury has been the toughest experience of my life. It took me three months to get to this point but thank God I was able to recover and get my arm back."

She added: "It's a huge deal, it should have taken eight months and even my doctors can't believe it. It's been a long journey, the physical therapists have been incredible and I am very grateful to all of them for helping me."
