Jenny McCarthy 'The View' Exit, Elisabeth Hasselback Possible Return to Replace Former Playboy Model? [VIDEO]
It's been only a month since she made her debut as a daily host on The View, but Jenny McCarthy may be cut from the daytime talk show.
ABC research found that the show's viewers are not interested in watching the show when McCarthy speaks, according to Radar Online. A show insider told the website that the former Playboy model has turned out to be less appealing than former View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
"ABC has begun doing deep research on Jenny's work on the show and the initial findings are that viewers want to tune out the second she opens her mouth!" the source said. "The data has revealed that she is FAR more off-putting than Elisabeth."
Hasselback left The View in July after being on the show for 10 years. Research prior to her exit showed that she was too conservative for at-home viewers.
The decision on whether McCarthy stays or will leave View lies squarely on the show's executive producer, Barbara Walters. She will make her own departure from the show in summer 2014 and announced McCarthy's hire in July, Enstars previously reported.
McCarthy had made 17 different appearances on the show at time of publication and guest co-hosted eight times prior to her full-time hire. The 40-year-old mother-of-one released a statement over the summer saying she was "beyond thrilled" to be joining the show as a permanent co-host.
McCarthy was hosting her own talk show on VH1, aptly titled The Jenny McCarthy Show, at the time. The first season finale aired on May 24. She ended her talk show to take on her new position at The View.
The View airs Monday through Friday on ABC at 11 a.m.
