Katy Perry tweeted her boyfriend John Mayer a happy birthday message on Wednesday days after they attended his brother's wedding together in New York.

The Roar singer, 28, wrote, "Happy birthday cutie!!! @JohnMayer" the same day that he turned 36. Mayer did not post a message about turning one year older and instead uploaded a photo of his chocolate birthday cake.

The couple tries to keep their romance private but have been spotted out in public together on numerous occasion. Perry joined his relatives at the wedding of Mayer's brother at Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club in NYC on Sunday, Oct. 13. Mayer served as best man.

"They were very polite and down-to-earth and didn't want to take away from the bride and groom's day," an insider told New York Post's Page Six. "Katy stayed behind the scenes and politely turned down photos. It was a beautiful ceremony on the water."

Perry and Mayer may walk down their own wedding aisle in the near future, a source told Life & Style.

"John wants to do something special probably around the holidays. He's been asking Katy's friends a ton of question."

"There are a lot of options on the table. Nothing is ruled out," the insider added."It could happen on a romantic getaway or during a family dinner."

The singers recorded the duet Who You Love for Mayer's new record, Paradise Valley. As far as working in the studio with Perry, Mayer told Jimmy Kimmel in early October, "She was fantastic, it was a really great experience."

Shortly before his interview Perry raved about her boyfriend's talents in the October 2013 issue of Billboard.

"He literally is a genius, as is evident from his songwriting," she said. "I always tell him, 'Darling, you know I'm going to have to give your mind to science after you've passed, because we're going to have to understand how all these sparks work.'"
