The mother of two also recalled a moment a few years ago when she needed to shed some extra weight she gained. Hudson managed to lose the pounds by counting her calories and refraining from snacking on cashews.

"I got that app My Fitness Pal and kept track of everything I ate," she said. "Normally I'm at about 1,800 calories per day, but when I want to drop a few pounds I stick to 1,500. It's the only way to do it. I have to be vigilant."

Goldie Hawn's daughter also explained her motivation for working out.

"I work out to feel great but also to look great," she said. "There's no way a woman gets up to work out at 6:30 a.m. just for the mood boost. She wants to fit into her jeans and look fantastic too."

The Something Borrowed actress also revealed that she doesn't fear aging in Hollywood and told the magazine, "In fact, I'm finding that the parts are more interesting as I get older, which is great because I'm planning to do it for the rest of my life."

The issue hits newstands and iPads on Oct. 21.
