‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ Movie NEWS: UK Release Date Moves Forward One Week, Will Be Before U.S. Opening, Video
Marvel will be releasing yet another one of their blockbuster films in a different country before its premiere in the U.S.
According to Den of Geek, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will open in the United Kingdom one week earlier than it will in the U.S. The current rumored date for the UK release is set for March 28, 2014, while the U.S. will see the movie for the first time on April 4, 2014.
This is not the first time the comic book and superhero moviemakers have scheduled an earlier release date for their hit movies in a country other than the U.S.
The Avengers (2012) opened in the U.S. on May 4, but was released in the UK on April 26. Iron-Man 3 opened on April 25, 2013 and May 3, 2013 in the UK and U.S. respectively, and next month's Thor: The Dark World will open Oct. 30 in the UK. It is not slated to open in the U.S. until a week-and-a-half later, on Nov.8.
The date for a UK release could still change as Disney, who Marvel has partnered with for their films, also has plans to release The Muppets sequel, Muppets Most Wanted that same weekend, making it unlikely the studio will want to put out two big releases on the same weekend.
As of right now, Marvel's other big release for 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy, is still slated to open in both the U.S. and the UK on Aug. 1.
