The film is expected to cash in nearly $75 million its opening weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which could make it one of the best and most successful November launches of all time. The original Thor made $65.7 million when it opened the weekend of May 6, 2011.

In the meantime, a new clip was released and teases fans with more footage. This 51 second trailer, "Thor: The Dark World - "Malekith Wakes Up" introduces a new villain hailing from 'The Dark World,' Malekith the Accursed, the ringleader of the Dark Elves (played by Christopher Eccleston). Apparently he was sleeping but he's now awake and ready to slay the cosmos along with his sidekicks, the Dark Elf army, Screen Crush reported. Marvel also launched new footage to reel in its international audience.

The Thor sequel is all about the thunder god Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) life now that he's teamed up with 'The Avengers.' He sets out on a journey to overcome his evil brother Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) before he and his alien troops completely demolish the Big Apple. His father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) is also back in the picture along with his love interest Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman). Sif (Jaimie Alexander) and the mighty Warriors Three also make their comeback with Ray Stevenson portraying Volstagg, Tadanobu Asano as Hogun and newcomer Zachary Levi playing Fandral).
Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Stellan Skarsgard also star in the movie.
