'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie News Updates: Jamie Dornan reads For Christian Grey Role
Will Jamie Dornan play the official sultry, wealthy businessman, Christian Grey, in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy?
The Once Upon a Time actor definitely has a chance. An insider exclusively told E! News that the actor read for the part Friday Oct. 18.
"He had a really good read today."
Even though chemistry with the leading lady Dakota Johnson, who will play Grey's love interest Anastasia Steele, is a major facet, the source went on to say that the studio is staying focused on securing and signing someone on to the part for right now.
"The studio isn't worried about Dakota. They think she could handle whoever the guy is."
News broke Saturday that actor Charlie Hunnam stepped down from playing the role of Christian Grey because of scheduling issues; he's also filming Sons of Anarchy.
Universal Pictures released a statement Saturday Oct. 12 and said, "The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey."
Fifty Shades of Grey author EL James also tweeted,""Okay boys and girls - hold onto your hats - it's about to get serious..."about 20 minutes for tweeting, "I wish Charlie all the best. x."
The change was a surprise to many since just days before on Wednesday Oct. 9, Hunnam told Entertainment Weekly he was looking forward to being Christian Grey.
"I'm taking it very seriously and intend to explore the nature of who this character is, what motivates him-and also dress up nice and look good in those suits."
Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder are rumored to be the top two options to replace Hunnam.
